Our History
Ghana Australia Association Queensland (G.A.A.Q) was founded in August 1996. It was part of an attempt to integrate the Ghanaians in Australia. The objectives of the Ghanaian Australian association Queensland are to:
. Represent Ghanaians in Queensland to the outside world.
. Promote friendship, mutual understanding and co-operation.
. Represent and foster the interest and general welfare of all its
members and any visiting Ghanaian.
. Establish and maintain means of communication, consultation and co - operation among members.
. Establish, promote and maintain social and cultural relationship
between members and the community.
. Assist and co-operate with other organisations
. Promote understanding between Australia and Ghana
. Promote economic, political, social and cultural relationships between Ghana And Australia
. Contribute to improve the lot of people in Ghana and other places.
Members
There are approximately eighty members in the entire Organization. Out of them seventy are paid up members. All members come from a diverse background of our rich culture. They all add to the diversity of our organization giving it an inimitable atmosphere.
The "Kente" dance group
Apart from being such a remarkable group of warm and friendly people we have an endowed group of active performers popularly known as the "kente dance group" (KDG).
